In just over a month, Noelle, Henry, and I will pack up everything we own and join you at FBC. We are excited and hopeful about what God has in store for us. So much so, I am already using first and third person, plural pronouns – which is an important detail to note.
Richard Bach wrote, “Your friends will know you better in the first five minutes you meet than your acquaintances will know you in a thousand years.” Noelle and I already feel like we have friends here. This is why we use “we” and “our.”
Noelle and I started our conversations with the search committee late last year. We talked every couple of weeks. Each time Noelle and I fell more in love with what God is doing in Waynesboro. We learned about your commitment to excellence, your sense of humor, your openness to diversity, your desire to grow in grace, and your focus on family ministries. These qualities set you apart on paper, but it was in meeting the committee and seeing where we would be raising our children (we are not pregnant, do not read in to this), and feeling the Holy Spirit’s presence that we knew God was surely in this place.
In Philippians 2:13, Paul writes, “ . . . for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for God’s good pleasure” (NRSV). Noelle and I believe God is at work at FBC. We are excited to begin this next season of our lives and to come alongside you offering our time and talents as we share the love of Jesus Christ.
My official start date is Monday, August 10 with my first Sunday being August 16. Join us as we begin our ministry together.
