Prayer Team's Mission
Our mission is to share others' burdens by lifting them up in prayer on a daily basis. We strive to provide support through Intercessory prayer for the individually known needs of members of our church family and others they put on our prayer lists; church staff; all of the many individuals and groups who are involved in the work at First Baptist; missionaries; local concerns, world concerns; and people in authority, etc. Our team works toward encouraging our church members to pray more and to grow in their prayer life.
Opportunities for You
Scripture tells us that our lives, our church and our community are transformed by the power of God when we pray. At First Baptist there are several ways that you can take part in the transforming ministry of prayer. To contacts any of the people below, click on their name to send them an email.
- Be a Sunday Prayer Intercessor. Using scripture and prayer-guides you pray for each part of the worship, for all those leading and taking part in the service that day, and for specific requests shared on the prayer cards for that day. Usually a person serves in this meaningful and powerful time of prayer for just one worship service each year. Contact the church office.
- Be a Prayer Chain Intercessor. When someone has an urgent prayer need at any time of the day or night and calls one of the leaders of the Prayer Chain, the request will be shared with members of the Prayer Chains, who pray immediately for the request. If you wish to be an instrument of God’s love, grace and power by praying for urgent prayer needs, please contact: Anne Smith .
- Be a Member of the E-mail Prayer Team. If you wish to commit yourself to pray regularly for prayer requests posted on the FBC website you may check the website prayer list via the link above.

Share your gifts as a Special Events Volunteer. When the Prayer Ministry Team plans for a Prayer Vigil, a workshop, retreat , or other prayer event, volunteers are often needed to plan, publicize, set up, greet, clean-up or baby-sit . As a Special Events Volunteer you would be called periodically to help fill these needs according to your gifts, availability and interests. Contact the church office.
