First Baptist Announces New Preschool Director: Carrie Jones

Dear Families:

It is with great pleasure I announce to you our next Weekday Preschool Director, Carrie Jones.  Carrie comes with experience, expertise, and a passion for teaching and leading. She will be an asset to our Preschool team as she assumes her role as director at the end of this school year.

Carrie first connected to our preschool as a parent of a child in the preschool. She later became a classroom aide, working with our two-year-old class and then our three-year-old class. She is currently a lead teacher for one of our pre-k classes.

“Play is a child’s work,” said Mrs. Jones. “Children should be given the space and tools to be able to learn through play.” Carrie’s presence and philosophy of preschool education symbolizes First Baptist’s continued investment in making the Weekday Preschool a place where learning and play are crucial.

When asked about Carrie, the chair of the search committee, Marcy Nester, said, “We are looking forward to having Carrie Jones lead our preschool in this capacity.  Having served there in several roles, she brings a keen understanding of the program and its ministry. Carrie understands the imperative role of a preschool in a child's life and will strive for our preschool to best meet their needs.”

Mrs. Jones embodies the qualities and expertise we have come to enjoy and expect at First Baptist and in our Weekday Preschool. Please be in prayer for Carrie as she seeks to transition into this new role in the coming months.

The director search committee included Marcy Nester (chair), Anna Grandpre, Mary Kane, Judy Roller, Cheryl Rosberg, and Lacey Wondree (staff liaison).

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Lacey Wondree
