Preschool Lead Teacher (Four-year-old class)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a daily curriculum to meet the emotional, social, and academic needs of four and five year olds that adhere to the guidelines of Creative Curriculum and Virginia’s Foundation Block for Early Learning.

  • Conduct tri-annual assessments and counsel parents about their child’s academic, social, and emotional growth and progress during conference times.  

  • Rotate play centers, reading material, and classroom tools to reflect seasonal changes and interests.  

  • Coordinate daily planning and scheduling with co-workers in your age level and throughout the school.  

  • Establish classroom rules and expectations.

  • Adhere to DSS regulations regarding health and safety for the students.

  • Adhere to monthly themes and Bible verses in lesson plans.

  • Keep parents informed of class activities and goings on through email, Facebook, regular newsletters, weekly notes, etc. 

  • Position includes approximately 20 hours per week of classroom instruction from 8:15 – 12:15, Monday thru Friday.  

  • Support the Preschool Director in implementing holiday parties and special events.

  • Support the Preschool Director in fundraising events for the school.

  • Attendance at occasional evening events is required.

  • Supervise and direct 1 classroom aide, depending on classroom placement.  

Successful candidates must possess the following:

  • A love for children and an ability to relate to them, their families, and other teachers.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A positive attitude and the desire to be a team player.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a childcare/educational setting required.

  • An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field is preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of formal educational training.  

  • 3 work-related references

  • CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to obtain the certification.

  • Willingness and ability to promote Christian holidays and values.

Candidate must pass a background check through fingerprinting and the Department of Social Services Registry upon hiring.

  • Conduct tri-annual assessments and counsel parents about their child’s academic, social, and emotional growth and progress during conference times.

  • Coordinate daily planning and scheduling with co-workers in your age level and throughout the school.
